Popular Nigerian gay activist, Bisi Alimi, recalls how he escaped getting killed

He wrote on his Facebook page "9years ago today (yes unlike my birthday, I mark this day every year), with a Ghana must go, £30 in my pocket, few clothes in my bag, on Afriqueair, I made the survival trip to London. Two nights before that trip, I had just escaped an attack that almost cost me my life. I survived, not because I was better than many of my LGBT activists who didn't survive, but because life wanted my rebellion to continue. Here I am today, 9years later, make of that what you wish, but if I die today, mine has been a life worth living.

Happy anniversary and Aluta Continua"
