Over 100 passengers escape death as Arik airplane nearly crashes in Lagos

A tragedy was averted on Saturday night as an Arik aeroplane flying into Lagos nearly crashed at the Murtala Muhammed Airport.
One of those on the aeroplane was Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Executive Director of CLEEN foundation. His wife, Josephine Chukwuma, who runs an NGO, Project Alert on Violence Against Women, said the aeroplane diverted to Cotonou in Benin Republic when it could not land in Lagos.

She wrote on her Facebook page, “Thank you LORD for a disaster averted. Once again you have proven that you are a covenant keeping GOD. An Arik flight that my husband is on, had to re - route to Cotonou tonight after running into stormy weather at about 6.50pm. It had descended in preparation to land when the storms caught it. It went up again and for some minutes they were violently tossed around before the pilot was able to manoeuvre out and announce that he was heading to Cotonou. Na GODwin.
