Former President Goodluck Jonathan says the late former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, transformed the lives of Nigerians.
Jonathan said this in a Facebook post as his tribute to the late ex-governor who was buried today.
Jonathan, who was deputy governor of Bayelsa State from 1999 to 2005, became the substantive governor after Alamieyeseigha was convicted for embezzling state funds.
He, however, pardoned Alamieyeseigha in 2013.
The former President’s tribute read in part, “As we commence the process of sending Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha home, my family and I remember the remarkable life he lived.
“His lifetime served the purpose of positively transforming the lives of many Nigerians, and we thank God for the pleasure, benefit and honour of knowing the great humanitarian that was DSP.
“As he goes home, my family and I join numerous well wishers in praying that he finds eternal repose in God, in whom he believed while alive.
“Adieu Chief DSP. You are gone but not forgotten. Rest well with your Creator. GEJ.”
